Logo

The logo is a key element in email templates. It supports brand recognition and ensures consistency across government communications.

The NSW Government logo must always be used in its correct form, colour and proportions to maintain accessibility and clarity.

When to use

Place the logo in the header of every email. It must link to the agency or organisation’s homepage.

Ensure the logo is appropriately sized for visibility and legibility across all devices, especially on mobile.

The logo should never be altered, distorted, or recoloured outside the approved variations provided.

Design guidance

  • Always use approved NSW Government logo assets.
  • Maintain clear space around the logo to prevent visual clutter.
  • Ensure sufficient contrast between the logo and background for accessibility.
  • Do not stretch, crop, or recolour the logo.

Variations

The logo component supports several approved styles and positions. Use the correct version depending on the background colour and context of your email.

Full colour

The standard NSW Government logo in its original colours. Use this version on white or light backgrounds to ensure maximum legibility.

Reversed

A reversed version of the NSW Government logo designed for use on dark backgrounds. Ensures contrast and accessibility are maintained.

Mono (black) – restricted use only

Use the mono black logo only when a design cannot accommodate the full colour or reversed (red waratah) logos, or where colour reproduction is not available or appropriate. This is for very restricted use only. Approval must be sought from the NSW Government Brand Team before use.

Mono (white) – restricted use only

Use the mono white logo only when a design cannot accommodate the full colour or reversed (red waratah) logos, or where colour reproduction is not available or appropriate. This is for very restricted use only. Approval must be sought from the NSW Government Brand Team before use.

Rainbow Waratah – restricted use only

The Rainbow Waratah is a special version of the NSW Government logo used during Mardi Gras. It represents our support for the LGBTQIA+ community and our ongoing commitment to inclusion across the NSW Public Service. Agencies and groups may use this logo for a limited time during the Mardi Gras period only.

Rainbow Waratah Reversed – restricted use only

The Rainbow Waratah Reversed is designed for use on dark backgrounds where blue text is not clearly legible or fails to meet accessibility contrast standards. This version is also approved for use during the Mardi Gras period only and is subject to the same usage limitations.

Size

The logo should be sized appropriately for its context, ensuring visibility and legibility.

Position

The logo can be positioned to the left, centre, or right within the header, depending on the template layout.

Left aligned

The logo is aligned to the left side of the header. This is the default and most common placement.

Centre aligned

The logo is centred in the header for a balanced, formal appearance. Often used in newsletter or announcement templates.

Right aligned

The logo is aligned to the right side of the header. This can be used where content on the left requires prominence or balance.
